Funny Things......

Since I have cut my hair I have experienced many stares (some good, some bad). It is amazing to me especially the funny stares I receive from my fellow African American women. I have seen people just gawk at me, others have jumped as if "Oh my". I see these stares and I hold my head even higher because I am experiencing such freedom that it does not matter. I live in SC and the past few mornings have been humid and VERY muggy--- no worries for me because I am living fancy free with my hair. In my relaxed days, I would have dreaded going out in weather like this because my curls would drop and my hair would look horrid all day because of the morning dew. Now I marvel in letting the morning dew-or God's little kisses- touch my hair---its all no worries. So these are funny things but I love who and what I am. Hubby says its a revolutionary act that many are not ready for..I say I'm suited and ready for war---war with the gawkers.

MY BC!!!!!!!

Ok, so yesterday on my birthday I chose to cut off the rest of my relaxed ends. This was exciting to me as I was looking forward to a change. After the cut I felt so very light and so free (not that I had a LOT of hair on my head to begin with) but it has always been a BOLD move for me to chop off my hair. My natural hair has gained an audience. I had a total stranger come up to me and hug me, welcoming me into the Natural Hair family!!! I LOVE it!!! It's funny that since I went natural (just one day) that I have noticed so many others who are natural. I am excited and ready for this journey!!!! SO,  I present the NEW me..................................................................................................

Strange Addiction

This is a show on the TLC network. It is amazing how many "strange" habits adults have from eating toilet paper, thumb sucking, and sleeping with a hair dryer. I think that we all may have some type of a strange addiction. I will confess first......Hello, my name is QueenPen and I am addicted to chewing bubble gum. There I said it...I feel so much better:) I chew gum only to acquire the sweet sugary taste and after the sugar is all gone I spit it out and chew more. Nothing but Dubble Bubble from the Dollar General will do!!! (Yes, I am VERY specific!!

Changes.....

So, I have decided to go natural!!!!!! I have not had a relaxer since Nov. 2010 and I have worn kinky twists for about one month to let my hair "rest". I plan on doing the BIG CHOP on my Bday (April 16th). I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I have worn short hair before (so it should not be a big stretch) the only difference is it will NOT be relaxed. I feel good about my decision and know that this will be the start of a totally brand new adventure in life!!!!!
