Summer Hair......

I am really loving my natural hair and I must say that it provides such easy styling...afro,twists or twist out!!!
The twists take me almost 2 hours to do!!! My hands hurt when I am done but the end results are worth it. I can NOT wait until it's longer and won'take as long to do.


I have attached my current twist (protective style) that I am rocking.....

Okay...while they're not the prettiest twists I've seen it works for me!!! hahaha


Oh, and here's a picture of my twist out....

Each look was achieved using Shea Moisture  Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie.


I love my Shea Moisture but I feel as if the second pic looks 


like a Jheri Curl!?!?!?!!

Gone Too Soon.......

I remember the day just like it was yesterday. I heard on the radio that there had been unconfirmed reports of his death. I cried as if he was a family member. I am sure that everyone has memories of growing up and listening to his music. This man was a musical genius, although misunderstood as a person. He sought to make the world a better place through his music. Music is all around us but does it have depth or is just scratching the surface? Many performers/musicians create music but is it something that will be timeless? To me, MJ created timeless music that will continue to live on forever...

Summer Reading....

As the temps warm up outside (the heat index was approximately 101-105 Monday) it is always a good time to stay cool inside and read!!! I have ALWAYS been a book worm and will spend hours in Barnes and Nobles reading!!!! I have found out that some of my fav authors have new books coming out and I can NOT wait to pick them up....

I'm So Excited!!!!!!!!

I am soooo excited because I am on my Summer Vacation!!!! Yes, as an educator I think we sometimes look forward to the summer break more than the students (such a shame). I have already taken my first family vacation to Orlando, FL with my hubby, brother and parents. It was a nice getaway!!! I took tons of pics but will only post a few below..........

I remember in elementary school a classmate told me that I was ugly because I was dark skinned. I remember a lighter skinned older woman telling me " Wow..you're pretty for a dark skinned person". These are things that happen way too often in "our" community. It saddens me that the paper bag test still occurs to this day. No, no one may pull out a bag but African-Americans have been brain washed by society as to what is "beautiful" and within those definitions we have been lost. A recent study suggests that African-American women are not found as attractive as other women. Really?!?!?!?

Hey Ya'll.....

It has been a while since my last post. I have not forgotten about you:) I am about to come to the end of a school year, so any educators out there can understand what I am going through!!! No worries, I will be back soon with updates and pics.

It's Been A Minute......

So, I have been gone for a little bit:) It has been hectic for me with work, taking care of home and just living life!!! The world has also experienced turmoil with the flooding and tornadoes.....lives have definitely been changed forever.

I am still rocking my 'fro and loving IT!!!

OK....these pics are a little fuzzy but you get the idea:) I think I just need to take pics with the camera and leave the Blackberry camera alone!?!?!? But like I said earlier...I am LOVING IT!!!! So carefree...didn't think it would be like this. Oh, my mother has an afro too so we are rocking 'fros together. I will do a post on her later.
