Shoe Love

I was recently in TJ Maxx and I fell in love with these shoes. My oh my…..they rock. I have seen Sam Edelman shoes in Belk and Dillard’s but the spikey heels that I saw never really drew me in. When I saw these babies I became ecstatic. They were only $50 and after doing price comparisons online the shoe actually runs for approximately $80-90. I am seriously thinking about getting these shows. What do you think?

Ear Candy --Water Bed Hev

Please review the following article that is a tribute to Heavy D......http://midlandslive.com/2011/11/the-record-report-special-tribute%E2%80%94heavy-d/

I see your true colors…..

I decided to color my hair at home. I’ve always had some type of coloring in my hair. As a relaxed woman my hair was always a sandy brown color and I hated that I could never get it to shine. So, I turned to color. Well, when I chopped my hair in April 2011 it turned a dark brown almost black!?!? I was/am very confused where this color came from. So, last Friday night I made a date with myself and my hair to add some color. I used Hi-Rez  Brazen Bronze color by Soft Sheen Carson. Well I must say that the color is not as brazen as I would like it to be so I am quite certain that I will get some boosting done to lighten and darken to bring about some more contrast. So, for now enjoy the pics below.

What I'm Wearing............

As I was stepping out to church I chose to wear this outfit.

I have on a tweed-like skirt purchased from JCPenney on sale for approximately $15.00, a turtleneck (price unknown), a lightweight jacket from Target for $10.00. None of this went together but after thinking about what to wear this is what I came up with. How did I do???

Miss Jessie Twist Out Results……….

Miss Jessie's

Gwen's Blends

I really like the results!! It seems to give me the same results as the Gwen’s Blends I purchased at the World Natural Hair Show. One thing I forgot to mention was after using the Curly Pudding my hands felt weird. Almost as though I had a plastic coating on them….did not feel good!! I know that Miss Jessie’s has some “bad” stuff in it for natural hair but I wanted to try them out. I did like the Super Sweetback Treament and would love to try that again in my hair for the recommended allotted time.

Can you tell a difference between the two pics???

Trying New Things

So, my cousin went to the For Sisters Only in ATL a while back and she got free samples of Miss Jessie’s and gave them to me!!! I washed my hair last night and I used the Super Sweetback Treatment that is meant for deep conditioning. OMG!!! It smelled sooo good, like good enough to eat. This treatment retails for $48.00 for a 16 oz. jar.

Then I used the Curly Pudding (which also smelled great) to twist my hair with. I shall see the end result when I take my twists out. I will be certain to make a post with the picture when I take the twists out. This styler retails for $38.00 for a 16 oz. jar.

Into the Night……

As I left to go into the night to hear the melodic sounds of Ledisi I put on my lovely new shoes. These shoes are by Carlos Santana called Mustique. They are quite comfortable and gave me no problems walking distances.

My outfit was all black with a feathered black and silver belt (Dots), black slacks and a butterfly sleeved black top.

The concert was AHHHHMAZING!!!! Ledisi really put on a show. I was surprised by how much she danced! It was very exciting to see her excited and hear her testimony about her life and music. Truly a WONDERFUL night!

Only Built for Cuban Linx

So my hubby took me out to a Cuban restaurant-- A Piece ofHavana. When we walked in we were both amazed at the small sized dining area. We were even more amazed at the long tables they had placed on the floor that practically took up the whole walking area. As we sat down we perused the menus trying to decide what we would eat. There was a lot of interesting sounding food. This was my first time in a Cuban restaurant.

I decided to have a Jupina (pineapple soda) that was sooooo good!!! For our appetizer we had crispy fried Plantain slices with a Mojo sauce. The plantains were good. I did not like the sauce very much, it was kind of spicy.

For dinner I had the Havana Chicken which was grilled to perfection for twelve hours topped with onions. I had rice and plantains as my sides.

My hubby had Stewed Shredded Beef with rice and black beans.

Overall, I would like to say that I am proud that we are willing to try various types of food but I did not like it. The rice for me was mushy with the various veggies inside of it. The chicken was good. The pricing and portion sizes were excellent.

What I'm Wearing............

I am wearing a navy and grey blazer with a navy cami and navy slacks. The blazer was bought on a HUGE discount. The blazer was regularly priced $89 and was on sale for $49.99 and with an additional 40% off. The navy slacks were bought from JCPenney's for about $20. Oh, my necklace was bought for me by my husband as a gift!!!   I felt stylish today:)

What do you think?

I am going to start buying more dresses. I do enjoy wearing my slacks but I feel more feminine in dresses and want to show my legs off more. Nothing is more fierce than a nice power suit but dresses.....I do love. While perusing another blogger's site:  www.stylechic360.com and she was discussing a site for wonderful dresses. The site:  http://us.dorothyperkins.com is AMAZING!!! I plan on purchasing some items from this site and will be sure to let you know what I think of my purchases.

Break Needed

Below you will see pics of my hair after it was untwisted in the morning before heading to work. These pics were taken before I received my braids. I was sooo glad to get a break from nightly twisting of my hair. Since I BC’d 6 months ago, my hair gotten thicker. I went to the protective style  in efforts to give my hair a break and my hands……

Life has been VERY busy for me!! A lot has happened since my last post in entertainment news and with me and my hair!!

First of all Vesta died!!! I know I am late in posting this but I feel that it is still newsworthy. It is a shame that she died so young. She was an incredible singer who could SAANNNGG.

She will be remembered forever.

I have also changed my hair!!! After being natural for the past five months I have grown tired of twisting my hair at niteL I got braids on last Friday (took five hours) but I am sooo loving the fact that I can go to sleep without any preparation!!! I plan to keep them for a while.

Here We Go.............

Finally I can share with you some of my pics and products bought at The World Natural Hair Show!!! I thoroughly enjoyed myself there. My cousin attended with me and she enjoyed herself too. She has been a natural for over 10 years!!!!! She know wears a sew- in but has gone to her local Dominican Salon to have her hair done for a while now. She will be a guest on here really soon to share her experience!!Our first stop was the Alikay Natural booth. I purchased the Bentonite Me Baby 100% Pure Bentonite Clay (for face and hair). I also purchased Shea Yogurt Hair Moisture. Free samples of the Moisture Rich Hair Parfait were given out. (see pics below). I have already used the Bentonite Clay for a facial twice and I must say…….WOW!!!! It leaves my skin smooth and soft. The feeling is similar to what Amla has also done for my face. (Alma dried out acne bumps fast!!!). I did enjoy the experience. Today I am washing my hair and I’ve put the Bentonite Clay on my hair. So I will update you when I am done.

The next booth we stopped by was Klutch. This is a beauty line from Gretna, LA. I must say I have been wearing this make up and I am impressed. The foundation is like a crème to powder and then I have the powder. This makeup is flawless and is great for photography. I must say I have fallen in love. My cousin bought some lipgloss from them that looks amazing. They also had eye makeup with GREAT pigmentation. I must look them up online to purchase some more products!!

We strolled around some looking and not really buying much for a while. We even went out into the foyer area for a break—much needed!!! When we reentered we stopped by a booth for Nudred. It is “The Hair Twisting Miracle”. The product is basically a sponge that you use to twist lightly over your hair and it twists your hair for you (sounds crazy). It was very amazing. I allowed the stylists to use the product on my hair. (As soon as my cousin can forward me the video I will post!!) The product claims to twist your hair in 20 minutes or less and believe me it WORKS!!!
(no purchase for me though).

We also stopped by Gwen’s Blends (I’d never heard of them before) and I purchased a sample pack that included: shampoo, hair conditioner (leave-in) and hair lotion (can be used daily). I tried this product as SOON as I got back home……..ooooooooo boy!!! The shampoo does not have a lot of suds but I was VERY happy with my twist out results. The product did give my hair shrinkage but it gave my twist outs GREAT definition. Even my hubby agreed that it made a difference. See below………

I just used the hair lotion on dry hair to re-twist my hair and got great results. My only
complaint is that the hair lotion is kind of sticky but still in love with it.

After using Gwen's Blends

Our last stop was Shea Moisture. I just really like their products and at 3 for $20 what can you say?!?!?!? That’s like buying two and getting one for free since the products retail for $9.99 in Walgreens and Target. So, I bought some products for me and my mother (Curl Milk, Shampoo, and the new gel). I haven’t tried the product (gel) yet but I am sure to do so in the next few weeks.

So I hope you enjoyed “seeing” the hair show through my eyes!! My cousin and I have already decided it is on our list for next year!!!

Funny How Time Flies......

Whew!!! I can NOT believe that it is already September! Time does fly by soo fast. I remember when I was younger the days and months seemed to run together (not anymore). I have been busy with work, school and life. Still loving my natural journey. I have found more time recently to twist my hair up at night and wear a twist out the next day!!! I plan on getting braids next month to give my hair some rest and let it grow. I will be sure to post pics of that and I do plan to post more pics of my hair and clothing soon. Please bear with me:)

I am EXCITED about attending the World Natural Hair Show this weekend!!! Hopefully I will be able to post some pics from that. Take care and remain Royal.

Dressing for Less…..

Here I am dressed for church and asked my dear hubby to take a few snap shots of me before we stepped out the door. My dress was $15.00 at Belk (originally $86.00), my shoes were $12.00 at Rack Room (originally 45.00), and earrings were $4.80 from Forever 21. I think I did pretty well for $31.80. Way to go Queen!!!!
